Hello and  welcome to my website! I hope you find it to be helpful and informative. I am a Registered Dietitian/Health Educator with over 25 years experience in providing Nutrition Counseling to individuals and groups with food-related illnesses and those interested in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.

I came to learn about the importance of  good nutrition at an early age.  At the age of 16  I was diagnosed  with "Ulcerative Colitis" ( a chronic disease of the gastrointestinal tract that  causes inflammation and ulceration of the colon). At that time I knew very little about the  connection between proper nutrition and good health. But what I did come to  realize, was that all the medication in the world could not help me unless I  improved my nutritional status. The quality of food I was eating, how I was  eating it, how much I was eating as well as improving my nutrition supplement  program were all very crucial to my recovery.

I spent the next several years learning  about my illness and the role of good nutrition in attaining and maintaining  good health. Eventually I went on to make nutrition education my career.

My educational background now includes a Bachelor's Degree in  Nutrition and food Science from Wayne State University and a Master's Degree in  Healthcare Education from the University of Detroit Mercy.  I am also an active  member in good standing with the American Dietetic Association. I  currently provide nutrition counseling to individuals and groups at my private  practice in Farmington Hills, Michigan (a suburban city just outside of greater  metropolitan Detroit).  I teach Human Nutrition at the university level, am a frequent  keynote speaker at educational conferences, and a past guest columnist for the  Michigan Chapter of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America.  I also teach Health Education Programs in Nutrition and  Stress Management at various work-site and health care settings.

One  of the most important things that I have learned through my experience is that  even though we cannot always control what happens to us (such as illness), we  can control how we react to it and do everything that we can to make ourselves  stronger through some specific healthcare practices.

My advice to all of you who may be dealing  with a chronic and/or serious illness is to take action in your life instead of  letting disease control you . Be an active participant in the treatment of your  health condition, whether it may be in attaining good health or in the practice  of disease prevention.
